Global Solidarity for Mumia’s Health Crisis Mobilizes Millions (March 2021)

Global Solidarity for Mumia’s Health Crisis Mobilizes Millions

By the Jamal Journal

As March 2021 began, following Mumia’s emergency hospitalization for congestive heart failure and COVID, a huge outcry sounded from around the world. Support statements poured in from the International Workers Committee; the International Longshore and Warehouse Workers Union, People’s Organization for Progress in Newark, New Jersey; Abolish Stanford; Fondation Frantz Fanon; France’s Democratic Independent Workers Party; London-based Unite the Union;  Partido Manggagawa (Labor Party-Philippines); ALBA Movimientos - Capitulo Brasil; Nueva Central de Trabajadores (Mexico City); and more.

The International Dockworkers Council, based in Spain has 140,000 members. Their letter to Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf, like many other letters, called for “the humane and dignified treatment” of Abu-Jamal, “as well as the other prisoners suffering form Covid-19 at the Mahoney Correctional Facility.”

Here on pages 20-21 of Jamal Journal Issue #2, we present  just a few of these support statements  released by the many different people and groups that fought to keep Mumia alive for his 67th birthday. Special thanks to everyone!
